Let's get down to BUGness !
What’s the BUG deal?
Invasive Insect Awareness
It is our mission to educate people of all ages about our ecosystem in Mississippi and how some insects can hurt what we have. Invasive insects such as the Red Imported Fire Ant, Spotted Lanternfly, and Emerald Ash Borer, impact our native ecosystems and cause problems for everyone around!
Love for Museums
The Mississippi Entomological Museum is a fantastic resource not only for researchers in the Southeast United States, but for everyone that has curiosity about our six-legged friends that are all around us! We assist in giving tours of the museum to anyone interested, just email our Outreach Coordinator, Shelby!
Conservation Education
You must take the good with the bad, and we take that very seriously! We believe that it is just as important to educate about our native critters that don’t cause us any harm, to balance out our talks about invasive or pest insects.
Mississippi Bug Blues is dedicated to making insect education accessible to everyone, check out how we can bring the program to you!

Mississippi Bug Blues is housed on the campus of Mississippi State University, and in the same building as the Mississippi Entomological Museum!
We love to coordinate tours of the building and the museum as well as talk to groups about their interests and how they can be related to entomology!

Our personal favorite places to travel to are schools and public libraries, we love to make connections with communities.

Mississippi Bug Blues participates in nearly 100 outreach events every year, and we love to add events as we hear about them!
Over the years we have made ourselves regulars at events like Pathways 2 Possibilities, Butterflies in the Pass, BugFest at the Crosby Arboretum, and more!
